Three days, two coasts and one incredible adventure.
Sam Funnell from Fine & Country Rugby will take on the challenge of cycling from the west coast of England to the east coast in just three days from 10th-12th August.
The 200 mile challenge will see Sam climb over 6,000 ft each day. The route includes stunning scenes from the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors: some of England’s most iconic regions and National Parks.
This is more than a cycling challenge for Sam. In 2014, Sam had surgery on his knee to replace his Anterior Cruciate Ligament, effectively putting a stop to his usual sporting activities. Cycling enabled Sam to maintain a basic level of fitness and rebuild his knee strength. Within a short time, Sam grew tired of road cycle routes and took up mountain biking along more adventurous trails.
Sam aims to raise £10 for every mile, making his fundraising target £2,000. To support Sam’s challenge, click here.
The money raised through The Fine & Country Foundation will support Hope4, a local homeless charity in Rugby. The Fine & Country Foundation has worked closely with Hope4 over the years and got involved with numerous events including: sleep outs, coffee mornings and the Rugby Christmas Light Switch On.
Hope4 are in the middle of an expansion project. The money raised from Sam’s challenge will help the renovation of part of the day centre. Once finished, they will have a nurses’ station, more washing facilities, meeting areas, and further space to support CV skills and more.

Hope4 Rugby was one of 17 homeless charities to receive funding from our spring grant programme where we gave more than £60,000 to homeless causes across the world. To find out more about Hope4 Rugby and the other charities we support, click here.
