Our group of trekkers are flying to Nepal in less than two weeks to begin an adventure of a lifetime. Find out how prepared our trekkers are feeling.
Nerves and excitement
Charlotte Schofield, Foundation Co-Ordinator said: “I am so excited to meet Maili Tamang, the elderly woman I am raising money for. I have just reached the halfway point of my fundraising so really hope I have raised enough money to build her house by the time I meet her.
“I think I am most nervous about walking through the earthquake-effected villages on our way to Thangpalkot1, many of which have not received any assistance. It will be incredibly emotional.”
Gemma Manning from Fine & Country North Lincolnshire said: “I am most excited about meeting the families that we have been raising money for and to tell them what we have raised to build them new homes.
“I am nervous about the living conditions that we will experience and the emotions that it will most likely involve!”
Katie Garn from Fine & Country Monmouth said: “I am most looking forward to assisting the families and helping restore the village. It is going to be an experience of a lifetime.
“I’m most apprehensive about the trek. I have been on a lot of training walks, but I don’t think anything can quite prepare me for what’s ahead; day one is a six hour uphill walk!”
Hollie Gregory from Fine & Country Canary Wharf, said: “I am most excited about the different culture, the scenery and visiting the school. I have seen lots of pictures and videos from Fine & Country’s last visit to Nepal and the school looks like so much fun!
“I am apprehensive about the food, but most nervous about the giant, rickety bridge we have to cross because of my fear of heights.”
Summary of the trip
The team of 15 will walk from Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu, to the remote hillside village, Tahngpalkot1. Their 10-day mission will take them through rarely seen areas of Nepal which were struck by the devastating earthquake in April 2015.
Watch videos from each of the families sponsored by our trekkers here and help each of them reach their fundraising targets.
