On Sunday 3rd of December, The Fine & Country Foundation will be hosting the annual Carols by Candlelight event in collaboration with King’s College Cambridge. The impressive and festive carol concert is hosted in one of the most beautiful settings in the city and presents the unique opportunity to enjoy a spectacular event inside an iconic landmark.
The spectacular event was a huge success in 2022 raising over £17,000, 100% of which was donated to homeless charities, offering vital services to homeless people across the Cambridgeshire region. The event was attended by over 500 people, ranging from employees and clientele at Fine & Country, to the locals in Cambridge, as well as family and friends of those studying at the prestigious university.
The money raised at the carol concert in December this year, will again be divided between Emmaus Cambridge, Jimmy's Cambridge, Wintercomfort and Cambridge Cyrenians, the four devoted charities which The Fine & Country Foundation are supporting. King's Voices was founded in October 1997 under the direction of Dr John Butt to give the women of King's the opportunity to contribute vocally to the musical life of the College, and we are elated that they will be entertaining us again for another year of joyous evening-song.
Jon Cooke, Trustee of the Fine & Country Foundation, says: “through the support of the Fine & Country network and the public, The Foundation has been able to have a positive impact on many people’s lives around the globe. The annual carol concert has been a massive contributor towards the money The Foundation has raised over the years and has helped support many charities and non-profit organisations in the work they are doing in their communities.”
The service will start at 5pm, followed by mulled wine and mince pies for VIP guests. All proceeds from the evening will be donated to The Fine & Country Foundation to help in the fight against homelessness and poverty. Tickets are now available to book. Join us with your loved ones this festive season for a magical and unforgettable event, book now.
Based in the heart of Cambridge, Emmaus provides support and accommodation for homeless and socially excluded individuals, known as companions. They provide their companions with safe and secure accommodation and opportunities in the social enterprise. Emmaus Cambridge is in the process of refurbishing 10 new bedrooms in the #10 Fresh Starts project to help a total of 44 people.
Founded in 1995 as Cambridge’s first year-round emergency night shelter, Jimmy’s has grown and developed over the years to make a substantial difference to the homeless community. In 2012, Jimmy’s launched their newly refurbished premises with daytime activities and skills training. Jimmy’s has refined their strategy to focus on short and long-term support for their service users.
This day centre is open seven days a week to provide vital welfare services and opportunities for learning and training. A combination of group and individual-tailored support allows the staff at Wintercomfort to address and resolve the root causes of their clients’ issues.
Cambridge Cyrenians provides a range of accommodation, support and specialist services for homeless men and women. We believe in homes, not hostels – where residents are encouraged to take responsibility for their own lives, with support from our professional team of staff and volunteers.
