On Saturday 11th May, Fine & Country Lancaster and North Lancs and Windermere offices teamed up with Bookcamp Thornton and Lancaster & District Homeless Action Service to tackle the Badass Mucker, a 5km race filled with over 30 obstacle.
The team enjoyed a bright and sunny day, but were caked in mud as soon as the race began. The 5km race was made treacherous and exhausting by the array of elaborate obstacles between the team and the finish line.
Teamwork skills in full swing!
Bessie Hallam, Sales & Marketing from Fine & Country Lancaster says: “The day was a great success and everyone really enjoyed it. It was a tough course and we were so grateful to have a large team to help each other over the taller obstacles, like the hay bales and through the mud baths!
“The most challenging obstacle for our team was definitely the 180 metre underground tunnel. We had to crawl through water in a confined space. It was pitch black and I couldn’t even make out the person in front of me, let alone the end of tunnel. It was extremely frightening, but we made it through together.
“The most amusing obstacle was the huge mud holes we had to plunge into. Lots of competitors lost shoes and had to be dragged out with long sticks by team members.”
As their reward for reaching the finish line, the team were given a well-deserved beer!
Running through mud and jumping over obstacles is all fun and games, but there is an important reason for this whacky event. The Fine & Country and partners team are raising money for Lancaster & District Homeless Action Service (LDHAS), through The Fine & Country Foundation. The team are aiming to reach £2,746.25 to redevelop a user-friendly website.
Every penny raised brings the charity a step closer to getting a new website and tranforming the level of care and support they can provide. We can't thank you enough for your support.
