On Thursday 8 June, a group of 15 made their way to the Warwickshire Golf & Country Club for a round of golf and competitions in aid of homelessness. This was the first Foundation golf event and we are delighted to announce that it was a huge success.
Mark Griffiths, Associate from Fine & Country Leamington Spa, was one of the lead organisers. Mark said, “We fuelled up with bacon sandwiches, tea and coffee before teeing off. As we began our round of golf on the Earls Course the clouds descended and the wind picked up. We spent the majority of the day battling the elements, but this didn’t stop me wearing my Fine & Country Golf t-shirt with pride despite everyone else sensibly wearing their jackets.
Mark continued, “The longest drive and nearest to the pin competitions were great successes. All of us, however, were overshadowed by Max Beard who won the individual, team and nearest to the pin prizes.”
Congratulations to Mike Rolph for winning the longest drive competition. The team prize was kindly donated by the Warwickshire Golf & Country Club who hosted the event for us. The voucher for the team of four to come back and play a free round of golf will be eagerly used when the weather improves.
Following the success at the Warwickshire Mark has confirmed that he would like to hold another, larger, golf day for the Foundation with more competitions and prizes. Good luck Mark, we can’t wait.
The group generated £300 for homelessness. They have decided to donate the proceeds to Helping Hands, a local homeless charity in Leamington Spa which the Fine & Country Foundation has supported in the past.
Leanne Kirkman, Manager of Helping Hands said, “The ongoing support the Fine & Country Foundation has helped us an incredible amount. With their generous donations we have been able to support even more people in the local community. The £300 donated from the golf event will make a valuable contribution to the café we will be opening. It will be ran by volunteers and help to train people in the service industry so we are really grateful for all the support.”
Sadly, due to the poor weather conditions the group were unable to take many photographs on the day. Thankfully, they have treated us to some victory shots with their prizes.
